Mildred Lorene Rowland

	Mildred Lorene Rowland, 85, of Christopher, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2002 at Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin.
	Mrs. Rowland had worked for the U of I Extension Service and as a pie baker at the Maid Rite.  She was a member of Oak Grove Christian Church and attended First Christian Church in Christopher.
	She was a charter member of Christopher Saddle Club, Franklin County Homemaker Extension Association and was a 4-H leader for many years.
	 She was born July 26, 1917  in Sesser, the daughter of Stanton Eugene and Gusta Boswell Cockrum.  She married Dwight A. Rowland on December 11, 1938 in Jackson, Mo. and he preceded her in death.
	Mrs. Rowland graduated from Goode-Barren Township High School.  She lived in Christopher for 63 years.
	Surviving are her children, Jerry and Sharen Rowland of Christopher, Bob and Verna Rowland of Olathe, Kan., Rex and Lois Rowland of Christopher, Joe Rowland of Christopher, Shirley and Frank Dry of Springfield, Linda and Harley Foutch of Murfreesboro, Tenn.  and Jane and Wayne Lewis of Birmingham, Ala.; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Eugene and Virginia Cockrum of Sesser and Donald Ray Cockrum of Winter Haven, Fla.
	She was preceded in death  by her parents, husband and two great-grandchildren, Brooke Overturf and Jeremy Tomei.
	Funeral services were Sunday, October 13 at 2 p.m. at Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher.  Interment was in Mulkeytown Cemetery.
	Friends called at the Gilbert Funeral Home after 5 p.m. on Saturday.
